Episode III fever must be spreading as Star Wars rumors and news tidbits are flying at a record rate. First, a supposed copy of the Revenge of the Sith one-sheet poster has been circulating the Internet. But our friends at theforce.net say it's most likely a fairly well done Photoshop fake using a publicity photo from Star Wars Insider -- a highly unlikely move for Lucasfilm. "Plus, it looks just like the Episode I poster," said Alex. "When I first saw that, I was 'Waaaa -- into it!' And then I saw the movie."
But in the verified news department, Lucasfilm confirmed there were will indeed be a live-action Star Wars TV series as well as an animated film. Kevin voiced doubts over whether Star Wars could translate well onto the small screen, while Alex speculated it might work if Lucas went with a dark mood for the series. "But he'd never do that -- he's not crazy," said Alex.
Also, a Revenge of the Sith trailer might be hitting theaters next month. Finally, Darth Vader was sighted robbing a pizza delivery man. Has this dark lord of the Sith have no shame?
Top 5 Episode III Rumors
Our pals at theforce.net, the leading authorities on all things Star Wars, were kind enough to round up the latest Revenge of the Sith rumors for us. Read what they have to say about them here.
TSS Live Call
Mike from Burbank, Calif. wants to get his wife interested in video games. What games can they play together?
Multi Media Artist Liam Lynch
He writes songs! He directs movies! He makes videos! And he used to play with sock puppets. The multi-talented Liam Lynch, best known for creating The Sifl and Olly Show on MTV, dropped in to talk about his latest projects.
Right now, he's editing a movie he made with comedienne Sarah Silverman based on her stage show, Jesus Is Magic. "I'm editing the whole movie on my Macs at home," he said. "It's amazing -- I'm doing this big thing that's going to be everywhere, and I'm making it sitting at home with my cats."
His next movie project will be the much-rumored Tenacious D project, The Pick of Destiny. For those unaware of the genius of Tenacious D, it's the rambunctious metal/folk due of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, not to mention a former HBO series. Despite the fact that Jack Black is currently in New Zealand filming a minor film called King Kong, Liam and Jack stay in touch via the power of the Internet.
"Every morning, we do iChat and jam," said Liam (referring to the guitar-style jamming). "But the first thing he did when he got to New Zealand was set up his Xbox live -- we've been playing Rainbow 6 and Splinter Cell."
The Nice-in-Theory JamPlug
Liam stayed on the set to help Alex review the new JamPlug, a pocket amplifier for guitar players. After demonstrating how it works, they concurred:
"Well, we tried this thing out... and it's not very good," said Alex.
"It's a good idea, and I don't know if they intended these to have distortion, but the headphones distort when you put up the volume," noted Liam. "It's convenient, but I can hear a guitar without this. But I'll recommend it as a concept."
However, our segment producer Sean O'Rourke liked it. Here's his mini-review:
"With its Apple-inspired design, the JamPlug fills a gap needed by musicians everywhere. I'm not a musician by any means but the JamPlug does fulfill its purpose well. When I thumbed with the strings of a guitar loaned to me it was great to experience the sound it made in my ears and no one heard anything. If only this gadget had been invented when I was in high school and my friends who were in a band could rock out at home without getting in trouble with their parents.
Project Pimpology
With much pomp and some circumstance, Yoshi sauntered onstage to unveil his latest mod: the pimped out PC. Alex was so impressed with Yoshi's sartorial splendor -- you can never go wrong with faux leopard skin and gold teeth -- that he bowed to kiss his ring. But the machine itself looked even more stylish: leopard-spotted casing, a mink-lined interior, a gold-painted chassis, interior mood lighting, and a small bottle of Villechaiz cognac to make the evening with your lady complete. Yoshi reported that it took but a mere three days to put it together. "This is all about cosmetics, so it doesn't take too long," he said.
